DENVER (KDVR) — A suspect has been arrested after Denver police issued a Medina Alert for a deadly hit-and-run crash that left one pedestrian dead on southbound Interstate 25.
The Denver Police Department on Thursday confirmed to FOX31 that Marisol Infante, 29, was arrested on July 9 following the deadly hit-and-run crash that happened around 7 a.m. on July 5.
The crash occurred at West 6th Avenue and West Alameda Avenue on I-25. Carlos Mercado Arzola, 52, was on I-25 at the right shoulder of the southbound lane changing a flat tire when they were struck by a black Toyota 4Runner, according to police.
Infante, allegedly drove off after hitting Mercado Arzola, which warranted the later Medina Alert.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner stated that Arzola was pronounced dead when police got to the scene and later confirmed the cause of death was from multiple blunt force injuries.
DPD stated to FOX31 that Infante “was held for Investigation of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death.”
The final charges have yet to be made but will ultimately be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
