The Boston Red Sox seemingly turned their entire season around over the last few weeks, flipping the narrative from them becoming sellers at the deadline to them being aggressive buyers.
While they look like buyers right now, there’s a chance the Red Sox lose a few games over the next two weeks and are flipped to sellers.
Brian Burrows of Bo Sox Injection recently suggested the Red Sox would trade offseason signing Walker Buehler in the coming weeks if they end up being sellers at the trade deadline.

“Buehler has been unsuccessful in reviving his career, about a year removed from returning from his second Tommy John surgery,” Burrows wrote. “That being said, he’s a veteran pitcher with loads of playoff experience and showed last year that he can still perform in high-leverage situations. His return would be minimal due to his high salary, but another team may find him useful down the stretch and in the playoffs this year.”
If the Red Sox end up selling, though it’s unlikely, they would almost certainly trade Buehler. The market for the righty wouldn’t be incredibly hot considering how poorly he’s pitched at times this season, but there would likely be at least one team willing to swing a deal for him.
There’s also a chance a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers is willing to part ways with somebody like Bobby Miller in a move for Buehler. Reuniting Buehler in Los Angeles might be what he needs to turn his season around.
As long as the Red Sox are winning, it’s unlikely he’s dealt unless a contending team is willing to give up big league talent.
