WHAT: Three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic medalist Elizabeth Biesel will be visiting local kids in Saint Louis to speak at a water safety fair, provide an in-water swim lesson, and sign autographs for International Water Safety Day. Media is invited to attend the in-water safety fair and interview Biesel on site. In total, USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation will be on site at four locations (Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and St. Louis) to speak on the importance of water safety and give back to local communities across the country.
- USA Swimming is working directly with local school districts and municipal Parks and Recreations services in Saint Louis to provide the greatest impact to kids at the grassroots level.
- Saint Louis will host one elementary school pep rally, one water safety fair open to the public, and one in-water clinic for the Gateway Region YMCA’s O’Fallon Park Rec Complex (OFPY) MAKOS Swim Team.
- USA Swimming’s free Goggles On campaign will offer resources to organizations nationwide in support of International Water Safety Day.
WHO: Elizabeth Beisel is a three-time Olympian (one silver, one bronze), made her first National Team at age 13, first female athlete to compete on the U.S. National Team for 12 consecutive years, team captain for 2016 Olympic Games, USA Swimming Foundation Board of Directors member and Ambassador, and NBC and ESPN media contributor.
