DENVER (KDVR) — It’s becoming a regular occurrence with the Colorado Avalanche: Captain Gabe Landeskog working out with the team.
Tuesday, ahead of their four-game homestand, Landeskog laced up the skates and joined the squad during practice at Family Sports.
“He looks good,” noted Jonathan Drouin. “He’ll keep doing his stuff and rehabbing. Hopefully, we see him soon.”
The soonest? That wouldn’t be until the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs due to Landeskog currently on long-term injured reserve. This allows teams to remove injured players from the active roster, potentially exceeding the salary cap by the amount of the player’s contract. The Avs are currently cap compliment, so the team would have to wait until the end of the regular season to activate the Captain.
So, what will Landeskog bring to the ice once he returns? ‘Colorado Sports Night’ asked Darren McKee from Altitude Sports Radio.
“The list is simple: Scoring. Leadership. Physicality. And perfect English,” McKee said.
