DENVER (KDVR) — A teenager, injured by a bomb in Gaza in April 2024, has arrived in Colorado for medical treatment.
He had to receive an above-the-knee amputation.
Friday night, Abdalaziz arrived at Denver International Airport. The 17-year-old was greeted by close to 70 people, some of whom were holding “welcome” signs.
Among the first to greet him — his uncle, who has not seen him in nearly six years.
The non-profit, humanitarian aid organization “Heal Palestine” is playing a large role in getting the teen treatment at Audubon Orthotic and Prosthetic Services in Colorado Springs.
Heal Palestine consists of a network of volunteers and medical professionals who provide care for children who are affected by the crisis in Gaza.
Abdalaziz is the first child from Gaza to be evacuated to Colorado. He said he is excited to be around all the love and the people from Colorado. He’s excited to meet and interact with everybody.
