How cold will it be in Naples, Florida? What to know about incoming Arctic air

Is it really going to be as cold as the Midwest in Naples soon? Maybe.

Blasts of Arctic air are being pushed into the United States and will reach as far as the Sunshine State between now and Jan. 12.

Here’s what to know about the dropping temperatures.

Don’t believe everything you see on social media

Several meteorologists warn Floridians not to believe every speculation post they see on social media.

“Some of the things that are going around on social media … aren’t realistic,” said meteorologist Donal Harrigan with the National Weather Service’s Miami office, which covers Collier County. “I’d say we shouldn’t focus on exactly what the temperatures are going to be because that’s highly uncertain and subject to change.” What Harrigan will say: “It’s going to be colder.”

How cold will it be in Florida by Jan. 12?

So how cold will it really be?

It’s still early and forecasts may change, but here’s a temperature outlook for Florida from Alex DaSilva of Accuweather.

  • Panhandle and North Florida: It’s possible some areas could see temperatures in the teens

  • Central Florida: Mid to upper 20s, even in Orlando

  • South Florida: It’s hard for Arctic air “to get all the way down there, but temperatures could be around the freezing mark. It would take a lot to get Miami around freezing but interior locations could potentially slip below freezing,” DaSilva said.

All we know for sure is that it’s going to be colder than it’s been this season.

Low temperatures forecast for Jan. 4, 2025.

When will it start getting cold in Naples?

Right now, forecasters estimate the big chill will arrive around Jan. 11. But honestly, it’s too early to give a firm prediction.

Predictions may be more accurate starting Saturday, Jan. 4.

Will it be cold enough in Naples for iguanas to fall from trees?

Maybe! Iguanas are an invasive species and can’t handle cold weather. When temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s, the iguanas can become stunned and fall from the trees they rest in.

Forecasters aren’t entirely sure how cold it may get in Naples yet, but there’s a chance the temperature drops into iguana icicle territory.
