The deciding demographic that everyone forgets about is coming out swinging once again; the pornography industry is ready for a fight. The Hands Off My Porn campaign has been launched, and has made quite the impact already.

What is this campaign, you ask? Well, parts of Project 2025 call for making pornography of any kind illegal, and banning it altogether in the name of promoting what the creators of Project 2025 are calling “traditional values”.

What is Project 2025, you ask? Well, it’s a lovely little conservative party plan that will crack down on every aspect of life in the United States that doesn’t elevate the “traditional” family. Basically, if you aren’t in a marriage where there is one man and one woman who produce a minimum of 2.5 kids with a dog; you can expect to have a bad time. And near the top of the agenda is turning everyone’s favorite naughty little corner of the internet into a virtual ghost town.

A ban on pornographic content wouldn’t just affect those whose livelihoods involve the production of adults-only content, but consumers as well. We personally find it highly ironic that a party that prides itself on freedom is making an attempt to legislate the private sexual behavior of the people whose freedom they’re claiming to protect.

The stakes for adult content creators and producers are high. The livelihoods of performers and producers will be devastated, and some are even worried about the risk of prosecution. With the rise of platforms like OnlyFans, the adults-only content industry has been thriving, and many who have turned to creating adults-only content— explicit or no— will suddenly find themselves with no source of income, no way to support themselves and their families, and unable to give back the economy the way they have been able as participants in a lucrative industry.

A legal industry is also a legislated industry, and where pornography is legally protected; so are the people who create it. The risk to adult film actors is high when you remove the legal protections that ensure their safety. Consent is king on platforms like OnlyFans, and when you take away the safe and legal means of consenting adults to create explicit content… well. There will always be porn, but removing legal protections opens up the door for exploitation of vulnerable people to be filmed without their consent.

But as we mentioned above, the content creators aren’t the only ones at risk here. No legal protections for pornography affects consumers too. According to a 2022 survey, up to 60% of adults in the United States admit to regularly watching pornographic content. That’s more than half of the adult citizens in the country. If it’s banned, consumers won’t be able to access their favorite titillating content.

…granted, the party behind this initiative also fervently claims that bans don’t work in regards to guns. But this is totally different and will absolutely work because it is different because it”s easier to ban naked people than it is weapons. Totally different.

Anyhow, the adult entertainment industry has no intention of going down— double entendre totally intended— without a fight. A grassroots campaign to combat Project 2025’s initiative has gained quite a bit of steam, and is working hard to push back against potential government overreach. Digital censorship affects everyone, not just online sex workers, yet here they are; working to save everyone’s freedom of expression.

Regardless of whether or not you partake in adults-only content, you have a horse in this race. Best pay attention, so that you are at least aware of what you can and cannot download on the other side of November.
