Evacuations ordered near Carbondale for wildfire

DENVER (KDVR) — The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office has issued an evacuation order for an area northeast of Carbondale due to a new wildfire Sunday afternoon.

Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District reported the fire before noon Sunday north of Panorama Drive, below the Ranch at Coulter Creek subdivision. At 1 p.m. Sunday, officials said the fire is about 35 to 40 acres.

The sheriff’s office has now called for evacuations of the Panorama subdivision, residences east of County Road 100 to Upper Cattle Creek, and Ranch at Coulter Creek.

The fire protection district said multiple ground and air fire resources are on scene.

Roaring Fork High School is the evacuation center, officials said.
