The 2025 Toyota Tundra is a reliable and durable mid-sized truck. While this truck does have a lower towing and hauling capacity compared to other brands, it excels in performance and longevity.

J.D. Power assigned a reliability score of 78 to the Tundra. The base model starts at $40,090, which is also affordable compared to other trucks on the market. Well-maintained Toyota Tundras can run between 150,000 and 250,000 miles.

“The Tundra is one of the most reliable pickup trucks, and owners regularly surpass 250,000 miles with regular maintenance,” said Melanie Musson, auto industry expert with CarInsurance.org. “It has a surprisingly smooth ride and comfortable seating.

“So, even though the Tundra is tough, it’s built for people who drive and ride in it.”

Next up on the list is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, known for its reliability and hauling abilities. J.D. Power ranks the Silverado 1500 as an 80 out of 100. Similarly, the critic’s rating is 8.3 out of 10.

Most Chevy Silverados have a lifespan of between 150,000 and 200,000, translating to 10 to 20 years. However, a Chevy Silverado can run for 300,000 miles with proper maintenance and upkeep.

The base model for the 1500 starts at $37,000, which is affordable for a full-size truck.

“The Silverado 1500 is all about capability and comfort,” said Blake Shaw, automotive expert and founder of All About Wheels. “Chevy is a great choice for retirees who want flexibility because it offers a variety of powertrains for 2025, including fuel-efficient diesel options.

“Its solid towing capacity and smooth ride ensure it’s as capable of hauling a trailer as it is for a relaxing weekend drive.”

The 2025 Ford F-150 is a full-size truck made for daily driving. With high towing capacities and a comfortable cab, the F-150 is a reliable and durable truck.

Like the Toyota Tundra, the Ford F-150 is ranked 78 out of 100, according to J.D. Power. However, the critics’ rating is 9.6 out of 10 for its class.
