(This story was updated to add new information.)

An 18-wheel truck overturned at about 10:52 a.m. Dec. 30 at the intersection of Canal and Willow Spring roads in East Manchester Township.

The accident closed Canal between Regional Way to Espresso Way while emergency responders cleaned up a “corn syrup-like substance” that spilled out of the truck.

The truck was the only vehicle involved in the incident. A hazmat crew responded to the scene. There were no initial reports of injuries.

“The corn syrup leak was identified and the Hazmat Team is working to mitigate it. There is no danger to residents or wildlife,” said York County 911 spokesman Ted Czech. “Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area, as it will be closed for an extended amount of time due to clean-up. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
